Construction Law

The Construction Law Practice Group is headed by Belinda Bacon, a Florida Bar Board-Certified Construction Lawyer and Florida Licensed Professional Engineer with over 23 years of experience working as a construction lawyer. Ms. Bacon joined the Firm as a partner last year and oversees the Construction Law Practice Group. The Firmís Construction Law Practice Group devotes their time and energy to helping owners, including commercial and residential property owners as well as condominium associations, general contractors and specialty contractors. We represent clients through all aspects of the construction process including drafting and negotiation of contracts and claims management as well as other means of dispute avoidance and resolution. Ms. Bacon is also eligible to be a member of a Dispute Resolution Board (DRB) through her certification by the DRBF. We also maintain an active litigation and arbitration practice. Some specific litigation and arbitration matters include Federal ADA access cases, construction lien foreclosure cases, other payment disputes, construction defect disputes and appeals of those matters.
Over the years, Ms. Baconís numerous achievements have included involvement in the preparation and negotiation of contracts for some very significant projects: an EPC Agreement for an independent power producer; a baseball stadium in Jupiter, FL; the American Airlines Arena in Miami; the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL; and Brickell City Centre in Miami. She has also litigated many matters for owners, general contractors and specialty contractors, including Federal ADA cases. She has settled many cases and has also won many important judgments, among them, prevailing on behalf of a condominium association on a $600,000.00 construction lien that was deemed invalid. She has also prevailed in an ADA case at the Motion to Dismiss stage on behalf of the Miami Seaquarium.
